Africa Centre for Diplomacy and Public Policy (ACDPP)

Background and Introduction

The Africa Centre for Diplomacy and Public Policy (ACDPP) is established with the goal of enhancing diplomatic engagement, policy analysis, and public diplomacy across Africa. The Centre will serve as a hub for research, advocacy, and capacity-building in the areas of diplomacy, international relations, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and sustainable development.

Purpose of the Centre

The Centre is designed to:

  • Promote African solutions to African challenges through diplomatic and policy channels.
  •  Facilitate dialogue, negotiation, collaboration, conflict resolutions, and partnerships among African governments, international organizations, academic institutions, and civil society.
  • Provide research and policy recommendations to enhance Africa’s diplomatic engagement on the global stage.
  •  Train and build capacity for African diplomats, policy analysts, and public diplomacy professionals.

Objectives

The specific objectives of the Centre include:

Conducting high-level research and analysis on key African diplomatic and policy issues.

Organizing forums, conferences, and seminars to promote policy dialogue and exchanges.

Developing policy briefs, reports, and recommendations on critical areas of public diplomacy and international relations.

Strengthening Africa’s voice in global governance institutions (e.g., UN, WTO, AU, IPCC etc.).

Offering training programs for diplomats, policy makers, and civil society leaders.

Scope of Work

The scope of work for the Centre includes, but is not limited to:

Research and Publications:

Conduct and publish studies on diplomatic strategies, public policy, international relations, and governance issues.

Advocacy

Advocate for policies that enhance Africa’s political and economic standing on the international stage.

Capacity Building

Design and deliver training programs for professionals in the fields of diplomacy, international relations, and public policy.

Events and Conferences

Host and organize international and regional conferences and summits on various diplomatic issues.

Partnerships

Develop strategic partnerships with international institutions, think tanks, universities, Humanitarian actors, and NGOs to foster collaborative research and policy development.

Humanitarian Diplomacy

In times of disasters, influence both continental and global decision makers and opinion leaders to act in the best interests of vulnerable people at risk.

Deliverables and Milestones

The Centre will aim to achieve the following:
  • Publication of quarterly research reports on key diplomatic issues and Humanitarian challenges affecting Africa.
  • Organizing at least two major regional or international conferences annually.
  • Development of a comprehensive training program for diplomats and policymakers by the end of year one.
  •  Strengthening of at least five strategic partnerships with international organizations and academic institutions within the first two years.
